WANGANELLA SHOWS SIGNS OF DAMAGE

[Special To *•Northern AcTuocatp"] AUCKLAND, This Day.

When the Huddart Parker liner Wanganella arrived yesterday at Auckland from Sydney she still showed signs of the damage received in the collision with the trawler Durraween on December 28.

Although temporary repairs had been carried out at Sydney, it was evident when the boat arrived yesterday that she had had a lucky escape from more serious injury. According to members of the crew, the Wanganella was struck a glancing blow on the starboard side, immediately below the forward funnel, but, fortunately, the point of impact was on a rib of the boat and not on the thirmer part immediately to the front and rear of the bulwark.

A Huge shallow dent in the ship’s side was evidence of ,the force of the impact. Marine authorities "who viewed the vessel yesterday stated that the damage would not affect the ship, which was as safe now as before the accident.
