Dale-Burgess
On December 11 a pretty wedding was performed at Knox Church, Wai« mate, between Doris Mae, eldest daughter of Mrs Burgess and the late Mr Charles Burgess, of Whangarei, and Alan Warrington, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Dale. Fairview, Timaru. The ceremony, which was fully choral, was performed by the Rev. Griffiths and Miss Cameron presided at the organ.
The bride was escorted by her uncle, Mr G. B. Turnbull. She wore a trained frock of needlerun lace over parchment satin, cut on classical lines, the folded neckline being finished with pearl ornaments. Her veil of embroidered tulle was arranged from a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a shower bouquet of cream roses, abutilons and orange blossom. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Dorothy Turnbull, cousin of the bride and Miss Edna Dale, sister of the bridegroom. Both attendants wore frocks of apple green floral georgette, made with fitting bodice and very full skirts. Their head-dresses of flowers toned with their frocks and they carried bouquets of abutilons and Iceland poppies in golden shades. Mr E. Frisk was best man and Mr J. Dale, brother of the bridegroom was groomsman. A reception was held at the Savoy Tearooms, where the guests were received by Mrs G. B, Turnbull, aunt of the bride and Mrs Dale, the bridegroom’s mother. Mrs Turnbull wore a navy frock of faconne marocain and navy hat I’elieved with white and carried a bouquet of red roses. Mrs Dale v/ore a navy redingote frock with oriental trimmings, and a navy hat. Her bouquet was of roses. The young couple left for the south by car, the bride travelling in a Lido blue tailored suit and hat to tone. Mr and Mrs A. W. Dale will make their homo in Timaru.
