The annual contest for the Cornwell Cup commenced yesterday morning, the first race resulting in a. win for tire Auckland crew by one minute 27 seconds from Wellington, with PHmmerton third and Tauranga fourth. Each crew used its own boat for this race. A further race, held in the afternoon, was won very closely by Paremata, with Tauranga second and Auckland third. Three seconds separated the first and second boats, and there were two seconds between second and, third.
