Japs. Preparing For Landing In S. China?
(Received 1 p.m.) SHANGHAI. December 27,
European passengers on a steamer bound for Macao, west of Hongkong, report that they sighted 20 Japanese vessels, comprising warships, transports, aircraft carriers hove-to 15 miles from Macao. Aeroplanes from the carriers made observations.
It is now believed that a Japanese landing in South China is imminent. The report of approaching vessels, however, says a later message, is not confii’med. It is believed they may merely be transports relieving Japanese vessels already in South China.
