State Buildings Near Parliament

Answering a question by Mr H. G, Dickie (Oppsn., Patca) when the House of Representatives was considering the Public Works Estimates last night, the Minister, the Hon. R. Semple, dealt with the Government’s proposal, to have a number of Government buildings grouped around Parliament Buildings, in Wellington. At present, he said, the Government was paying £2600 a year rent for various offices scattered throughout the city. Some were not fit for human beings to work in. It would take a little time to have the plans completed. Asked by Mr Hamilton where iho new broadcasting building would be situated, Mr Semple stated that it would occupy the site where the Dominion Museum now stood.
