NEW TARIFF FOR NEON SIGNS
“Within recent months 1 have had numerous requests for reductions in charges, from consumers who have installed and from others who are about to instal. Neon, signs for advertising purposes’’ stated the electrical engineer in a report which the electrical committee presented to the Whangarei Borough Council last night. “In the past, the method of charging has been at the usual lighting rates. With the increased number of signs installed, and to conform to modern requirements, I would suggest that a flat rate bo adopted. The rate suggested is similar to that adopted by many other supply authorities, namely: “Charge: £l4 per k.v.a. of maximum demand per annum, including a timeswitch, payable every month. If required in the day time, ordinary powerrates to be enforced. Discount: A discount of 5 per cent will be allowed for prompt payment of the account in full. Hours of use. summer months, 7 p.m. to 11.30 p.m.; winter, a p.m. U>i 11,30 p.m." I On the recommendation of the com- ; mitlee the report was adopted. The amended charges to operate as from January 1 next.
