The conditions were excellent, the weather being fine and the course in good order', for the opening of the Taumarunui Jockey Club's meeting at Paeroa on Saturday. Three lengths; half a length. .Time—4.s2 4-5. Flying Handicap, of 150 sovs; six furlongs.—(7-6) Miss Lu, 8.2, 1; (3-5) Orate, 8.2, 2; (4-4) Valamito, 7.8, 3. Nine others started. Half a length each way. Time—l.l3 3-5. Spring Hack Handicap, of 130 sovs; seven furlongs.—(2-2) May Song, 8.12. 1; (4-3) Melvanui, 7.9, 2; (7-7) Strathiro. 9.0. 3. Six others started. (Hymel coupled with Melvanui.) Neck; a nose. Time—l.2B 3-5.
