Cruising Club Affairs
At the quarterly meeting of the Whangarei Cruising Club last night, enthusiasm was shown in regard to the staging of a yacht race from Auckland to Whangarei about Christmas time. There was an attendance of 25, presided over by the commodore, Mr A. McKenzie, and the club wais keen to put such an event on. After a good discussion, Messrs R. Cutforth, A. Carmichael and the commodore were appointed a committee to approach the secretary of the Whangarei Harbour Regatta Asso6iation in connection with the race. ,
The raising of more finance for the erection of the new clubhouse occupied members for some time and Messrs R. B. Finch, R. Cutforth and the commodore were deputed to devise a scheme to present to the annual meeting of the club in September. The new life jacket was on exhibition and was the subject of much favourable comment.
