The Farnham by-election, owing to Sir A. M. Samuel’s peerage, resulted: Mr Godfrey Nicholson (Con.) . 20,580 Mr Peter Payne (Labour) 7,792 Mr Linton Thorpe (Ind. Con.) . 2,327 Mr Edward Miller (Ind.) 154 The two Independents forfeited their deposits. Mr A. M. Samuel’s majority at'the last election was 20,486.
