Kaitaia

In the Kaitaia Picture Theatre, 150 new seats have been placed m the dress circle. They are upholstered, and are very comfortable, being a vast improvement on those formerly in use. The did seats have been shifted downstairs, where they replace less comfortable seats. The work has been carried out by Messrs. Worth and Webber, who have had to rearrange the seating accommodation throughout. A second ticket office has been constructed on the right of the theatre entrance for the exclusive sale of tickets to dress circle patrons, reducing the pressure of the crowd at the other office on big nights. Further improvements are being made to the lighting by placing a powerful electric light at the main entrance. i , Mr and Mrs Satterswaite have been visiting Mr and Mrs E. White, Victoria Valley. Mr and Mrs Ned Wilkinson have left Kaitaia for the south on a holiday.

The annual meeting of the above branch was held on the 17th in si, Mrs Buckle presiding over a good attendance of members. The following officers were elected. President, Mrs Buckle (re-elected), vice-presidents, Mesdames L. Pettit, and Syd. Puckey; secretary and treasurer, Mrs W. Parker; social secretary, Miss Dorothy Puckey; committee, Mesdames A G. Bell, H. Parker, J. Sowler, A. Masters and Morice, Mrs W. Masters and H. Foster to act as out-districts representatives. . Mrs McKenzie, on behalf of members, thanked Mrs Buckle for the good work she had done for the Womens Division during the. year. A competition donated by Mrs Stuart Masters was won by Mrs Horsford. Members of the committee served afternoon tea.
