HOW N.Z. WILL CELEBRATE CORONATION DAY

The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, yesterday outlined the Coronation celebration arrangements.** •The week beginning May 12 will be celebrated throughout the Dominion as Coronation week.

Coronation Day itself will be a pal'd (holiday for all Government employees, and the Government invites local bodies and private employers to follow its example. The churches are invited to hold special services on May 16. There will be a Government function at Parliament House on Coronation day, at which the Governor-Gen-eral, Lord Galway, the acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Fraser, and the Mayor of Wellington, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, will speak. Sports bodies are invited to hold special fixtures, and there will be naval and military reviews. School children are to meet at the schools at 9 a.m. on Coronation day. It is proposed to issue souvenirs to individual children, but at a later date the Government will present a suitable souvenir to each school. A complete scheme of decorations and illuminations has been arranged and local bodies are invited to cooperate. . v On Coronation night the service at Westminster will be broadcast by loudspeakers and the following day the King’s address to the Empire will be similarly broadcast.
