S.P.C.A. Contest

The Best Answers Received Following is the solution to Task No. 2. as supplied by N6rma Carter, the nine-year-old from Oakleigh, who won the first of a Girls Own Annual in the recent S.P.C.A. competition: — (1) —We should be kind to all living creatures because the constant practice of kindness will help us to be good citizens, and we should be especially kind to animals because they cannot tell us their troubles and cannot do much to help themselves. Animals have very often repaid the kindness shown them, by giving wonderful help to their masters in time of danger. (2) I could offer to take the lady's dog out for a walk as often as possible. (3) —I would rescue the kitten from the dog, and look after it till I found the owner. The same day I would watch the paper for the kitten to be advertised for. (4) A plentiful supply of suitable food, a good clean dry hutch and a good run to provide fresh air and exercise. (7)—Plenty of good food, a supply of pure water for drinking, space to take plenty of exercise, dry sleeping quarters and kind treatment.
