SPORTS CLUB TROPHIES

! The total paints gained by the i pupils of primary schools who competed in that section at the first annual sports held by the Moerewa Athletic Club on Saturday, November 28, are as follows:—Moerewa 17’, Orouta Native 14|, Kawakawa 13. At the Moerewa school concert last Thursday evening, the chairman of the school committee, Mr C. Sommerville, on behalf of the Athletic Club, presented the prizes and trophies won in this section. The winners were as follow: —Carling Cup (presented by Mr J. Carling, of Moerewa, for the 100 yards Moerewa school boys’ championship), Lloyd Weir. Ferguson Cup (presented by Mr R. Ferguson, for the 100 yards Moerewa school girls’ championship), Olive Foster. Ready Cup (presented by Mr Jas. Ready, Moerewa, for the one mile cycle race), V. Ready. Cash prizes were presented to the second and third prize Winners in these events, an 4 the first, secand and third in the other events.

. The handsome cup, presented by Mr Thos. Brown, of Kawakawa, for the school gaining mpst p'oints in this section was handed to the headmaster, Mr Shepherd, who suitablyy replied on behalf of the school. In presenting the Brown Cup, Mr Sommerville said that he hoped Moerewa school would do its best to retain the cup and that the other schools would do their best to wrest it from them next year. At the request of Miss E. Doel, L.R.S.M., L.T.C.L., Mr C, Sommerville, at the school concert in the Moerewa Hall, on Thursday last, presented certificates won by two of her local pupils in the music examinations held some time agb The recipients were Misses Valerie Kelly and Joan Strange. Personal. It is pleasing to record that Mr Raffles, of Moerewa, who has been an inmate of the Bay of Islands hospital for some time, is making satisfactory progress. The infant daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Corr, who has been very ill, is making good progress. Little Don McMillan is, I understand, quite happy in his surroundings at the Bay <Sf Islands hospital, and doing as well as possible after his recent accident, when he had the misfortune to break a bone in a leg. -
