A famous French World War ace, M. Jean Mermoz, is believed to have been lost in the South Atlantic with a ct-cw of four. The Air Force aeroplane, which he was piloting from Bakar, Senegal, to Natal, Brazil, left Bakar on Monday morning, and has not been heard of since it was 420 miles out.
