HEREKINO
A fancy dress ball was the opening dance of the Waiotehue school - on Friday evening, and was proved a great success by many people from far and near. A spot waltz was won by Miss Muriel Urlich and Mr Les Wallace, while the Monte Carlo was won by Miss Joan Geddes and Mr Bob MacKenzie. A cushion was won by Mr Eddie King. In fancy costumes were: —
Mesdames M. Kjoiler. “Gypsy”; O. Irving, “Pierrette.” Misses Muriel Urlich, “Red Cross Nurse”; A. Paulson, “Bath Time”; C. Shirley, “Waitress”; Nellie Kjoller, "Japanese Lady”; Alma Urlich, “Odol”; M. Geddes, “Old Fashioned Lady.” Messrs I. Wright, “Sailor”; R. Penny, "Nigger Minstrel”; J. Wright, “Pierrot”; D. Curie. “Highland Laddie.” Mr Curie won the prize for the most original dress, as did Miss Alice Paulson, while Mr Penny and Mrs M. Kjoller won the prizes for the best dressed. Others present were Mesdames J. Geddes. white taffeta and lace; J. T. Urlich. floral voile and organdie; M. Paulson, figured silk marocain; S. Urlich, brown figured marocain; J. Taitimu, rose pink satin; D. Curie, navy marocain; A. Harris, flame velvet. Misses Leila Perkinson, green marocain; Joan Geddes, figured bemberg; Rosie Urlich. striped marocain; Ethel Perkinson. summer breeze; L. Curie, (Salmon pink satin; L. Curie, red crepe.
