HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

At a meeting of the Whangarei High School Board of Governors held yesterday afternoon, the following scholarship awards were made: —

McLachlan Scholarship of £7O per annum, for four years:—Gordon Lincoln Arvidson, Dargaville District High School. Kerr Scholarship, for three years.—Albert R. Wright, Puma School.

There were 46 candidates for the McLachlan scholarship, coming from as far north as Broadwood and from as far south as the Bay of Plenty. The examination was open to pupils under 14 years of age from any school further than 10 miles from Whangarei. The McLachlan scholarship was offered for the first time. There were 13 candidates for the Kerr Scholarship, which was open to pupils from primary schools in the county of Whangarei.
