BLOMFIELD HOLDS GEORGE TO A DRAW

Wrestling

[Special to “Northern Advocate/'! AUCKLAND, This Day.

“Lofty” Blomfield, the Auckland professional wrestler, last night added greatly to his reputation when he drew with Ed. Don George, of America, each man gaining a fall. Last week George beat Blomfield at Auckland, but the local man was not satisfied with the result, and immediately issued a challenge for a return bout, on the winner-take-all basis. The match last night was almost a repetition of last week’s affair, in that George, after gaining a fall in the third round, went on the defensive. Blomfield, however, was after a win, and in the seventh round got the equaliser. In the final session he was suffering from a hammerlock when the gong ended things. George took his fall following a willing bout of forearm jolts, in which he had decidedly the better of the exchanges. Blomfield went to the mat three times, and then George put his shoulders down easily. Blorpfield had the better of the sixth stanza, and for almost nine minutes held Geoi'ge in a short-arm scissors. He went for the same hold at the opening of the next, and took the equalising fall. The final round featured forearm jolts, with neither man on top. The result was wildly cheered by the packed house, the greater portion of which v/as with Blomfield.
