[Per Press Association. Copyright .] DUNEDIN, This Day.
Two people were taken to hospital early on Saturday evening as a result of a collision, between an engine from the South Dunedin Fire Brigade and a private car, driven by Mr Robert Collins.
The injured people are: Mrs Alice Goodall, aged 54, of Hastings, who suffered head injuries and shock and is in a serious condition.
Mrs Mabel Collins' aged 37, of 13 Minto Street, Anderson’s Bay, who received abrasions and shock.
The driver of the car escaped with only a few slight cuts and bruises. The fire engine was responding to a call from Anderson’s Bay when the collision occurred at the corner of Cargill Road and Anderson’s Bay Road. Fortunately, the engine was not travelling particularly fast at the time, the corner being a dangerous one. The force of the impact hurled the car across two sets bf tramlines before it rolled over on its side. The engine was damaged to the extent of over £2O.
