PARAKAO FAREWELL
A large number of friends gathered in the Parakao Hall last Wednesday night to farewell Mr and Mrs H. Blackett, who are leaving the district Mr and Mrs Blackett have been farming at Parakao for the past sixteen years, and, having disposed of their property, have decided to retire. As Mr Blackett is an active and valuable member of the Mangakahia Golf Club the farewell was fittingly incorporated in the club’s annual dance. Prior to the supper interval, Mr A. Pollock, on behalf of the residents, presented the guests with a beautiful china tea-set. He eulogised them as settlers and extended them the best of good wishes for the fixture. On behalf of the Golf Club, the president, Mr G. Birch, also spoke highly of Mr Blackett as a member.
