PARUA BAY

The Manaia footballers held a most successful dance in the Parua Bay Hall on Labour Day night. Visitors rolled up from all parts 6f the district and everything went with a swing from start to finish. During the evening, Mr Kerr, speaking on behalf of the footballers, thanked the crowd for their attendance; and also the ladies who generously helped with the preparation of a delicious supper. A box of chocolates was won by Miss I. Squires, and a Monte Carlo waltz by Mrs Welch and partner. Items and an extra were also rendered by several Maoris from Pataua. Mr Jack Huchinson made a capable and efficient M.C.

Last Saturday week saw Parua Bay in luck’s way with a fine day for the opening of the tennis courts. Visitors from adjoining districts attended, and an enjoyable day was spent. The ladies provided lunch and'' afternoon tea. •
