[Special to “Northern Advocate.’*! NEW PLYMOUTH, This Day. The final of the professional golf championship at New Plymouth was won by C. C. Clements (Russley), who defeated the open champion, A. J. Shaw (unattached) over 36 holes, 3 and 2. Clements played brilliantly for the first nine holes in the afternoon to give him a three up advantage which Shaw could not overtake. The amateur final will be contested today •by J. P. Hornabrook (Manawatu) and L. Cathro (Castlecliff). On tournament form Cathro may take the title from Hornabrook. Results: — Amateur Championship. Semi-final. —J. P. Hornabrook beat R. G. Holland, 8 and 6; L. Cathro beat D. V. Sutherland, 3 and 2. Professional Final. C. C. Clements beat A. J. Shaw, 3 and 2. N.Z. State Final. J. L. Black beat A. J. Longstaffe, 4 and 3. Other results: — Amateur Medal Handicap.—B. H. Menzies, 74 —2 —72. Driving Competition.—A. E. Guy, 274 1-3 yards.
