FINAL S.P.C.A. DANCE
The Parochial Hall presented a gay and animated scene this week the occasion being the final dance of the S.P.C.A. Society. The room was prettily decorated in blue and white, the colours of the S.P.C.A. The, stage looked a picture with a white background with a huge blue cross in the centre. At each end blue and white lilies were artistically arranged, whlie overhead hung the letters S.P.C.A. in brilliant tinsel. Along the walls were large nikau palms and blue crosses, outlined with silver. All decorations were carried out by the ladies of the committee.
Mrs O’Hara, the president, received the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs Jones, who led the grand march. Betty Patterson presented the Mayoress with a beautiful bouquet of roses. The duties of Master of Ceremonies were ably carried out by Mr Waters. During the evening two songs and dances were rendered by three tiny pupils of the Lgcey Sisters.
The Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr and Mrs Carter, the Number Dance by Mr and Miss Redwood, while the prizes for the spot waltz went to Mr Cummings and partner and a consolation to Mr and Mrs Rothwell. A' mystery man competition was won by Mr Porter. Extras were played by Mr Diekensen and Mr Humphreys. Supper was served in pretty blue and white boxes by the ladies of the committee.
