Y CLUB’S SIXTH BANQUET

In celebration of its sixjh birthday, the Hikurangi branch of the Y Club held its annual banquet in the Presbyterian Hall on Tuesday evening. The function was a great success, no less than 40 sitting down to a lavish spread. Miss M. Ross presided and the following toasts were honoured: —The King, the visitors, W.C.T.U., Rechabites, the Church; president of the Y Club, the superintendent, Mrs Rarity, and Our Mothers. The birthday cake, made by Mrs C. Latham, of Ware, was cut by Miss Ross. Items were given by Miss A. Mcllroy and Mr N. Smith (songs) and'Elsie Hawson and. Nona Pearson (duetj. The evening was wound up with the customary social hour.

BIRTHDAYS CELEBRATED. Mr and Mrs C. K. Munro, of Jordan Road, entertained about 10 to a party on Saturday in honour of the third birthday of their daughter, Janice. The affair was greatly enjoyed by the youngsters. Fourteen friends assembled at the home of Mr H. Pearson, in Alfred Street, on Wednesday of last week on the occasion of this popufar resident’s birthday. He was the recipient of many genuine well-wishes.

PERSONAL PARS. Mr W. Harris is on a health visit to Ngawha Springs. Miss Duckworth, of Auckland, is the guest of Mrs L. Bayliss, George Street, for a short holiday. Messrs W. Thomas, R. Taylor and J. Stephenson paid a flying visit to Auckland over the week-end.

Mrs G. Brough, of Tauranga, is holidaying with her daughter, Mrs N. Campbell, View Road. Mr and Mrs F. Little, senior, left on Saturday to take up residence in Auckland with their daughter, Mrs T. O’Shea, who left Hikurangi soma weeks ago. Mrs F. Little and son Frank, Mrs Codling and son and Mrs Scott, senr., are holidaying at Whangaruru.

Mr and Mrs H. Ball returned to their home in Devonport on Thursday after a couple of weeks as the guests of Mr and Mrs H. Pearson.

Mrs Wyatt spent last week in Whangarei.
