Showery weather cleared as the Fiji ladies’ hockey team, wearing shorts, took the field on Saturday against Wanganui. was even for the fiirst 20 minutes, both sides missing opportunities, until a Wanganui forward attack was led by Miss Worrall, ■ who centred to Miss R. .Brooks, who scored. Fiji attacked, but the shot --missed. There was no further score -‘■at half-time. Fiji showed better combination than in the previous game, but were inclined to make speculating shots too often. The Wanganui players kept their places better than the visitors, who bunched at critical stages. The second spell opened promisingly for Fiji, who attacked, but found the ground, which was cutting up as a result of rain, against its tactics. Wanganui’s attack ended in a centre by Mrs Worrall, and a Fijian girl accidentally put the ball into her own goal. Fiji attacked keenly, Miss Raffles missing a good chance from a penalty. bully, and then Miss Sutherland .missed a goal after winning a bully. Both sides tired perceptibly towards the finish of the game, which ended: Wanganui 2, Fiji o.'
