CLEARING SALE
The clearing sale conducted by Wakelin’s on account of Mr. G. A. Finlayson, at Ngararatunua yesterday, proved an outstanding success. Buyers were numerous, and, with the quality and splendid condition of the cattle, an excellent sale resulted. Top price was secured for a Jersey cow close to profit, £l4 12/6 being the price paid by Mr. J. Antonovich, of Waipu. The herd of approximately 103 cows averaged in the vicinity of £B. Quotations. —Jersey cows, close to profit, £8 to £l4 12/6; Jersey cows, to calve August and September, £7 to £7 5/; Jersey-cross cows, to calve August and September, £6 to £7 5/; best heifers made £5 17/6; more backward heifers, £4 15/ to £5 10/; Holstein cows, £6 to £8 15/; Shorthorn cows, £6 to £7 10/; yearling Jersey heifers, £2 10/ to £3 2/; Jersey bulls. £5 to 7J gns.
