Fine and sunny weather favoured the final day of the Wellington Racing Club’s meeting which was held at Trentham today. The track was in fairly good order and a large crowd was taking advantage of the excellent conditions. Results:—
Talavera Hurdles, of 250 sovs; one mile and a half.—(2-2) Saltspray 10.9, (A. McDonald), 1; (1-1) Lord Val, 10.11, 2; (5-5) Haere Tonu, 9.9, 3. All started. Three-quarters of a length; four lengths. Time—2.s4l. Novice Handicap, of 200 sovs; six furlongs.—(4-2) Dawning Light, 8.1, 1; (11-11) Maestro, 8.9, 2; (1-1) De Friend, 9.7, 3. All started. A head; half a length. Time—l.l6 3-5.
July Steeples, of 40 sovs; about three miles,—(s-6) Billy Boy, 11.1, 1; (7-5) Manwatu, 9.6, 2; (3-3) Pahu, 9.11, 3. Diamond was scratched. Three-quar-ters of a length each way. Time—--6.333. Crofton Handicap, of 200 sovs; six furlongs.—(l-1) Braw Lad, 8.5, 3; (6-6) Royal Feast, 8.9, 2; (2-2) Ngatirahira, 8.3, 3. All started. Neck, three lengths and a half. Time—l.l63.
