ALLEGATIONS AGAINST SOLICITOR

SEQUEL TO MYSTERY DISAPPEARANCE (Received 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, June 11. , Harold York Thompson, aged 35, solicitor, who with his brother, Mr Allan Thompson, disappeared in the Hawkesbury district on May 6 and was subsequently located at Broken Hill, appeared in the Central Police Court, today on nine charges alleging misappropriation and forgery. He was committed for trial. Bail was fixed at £I,OOO. The evidence of Mr Walter Shepherd, of the legal firm of Greenwood, Shepherd and York, with whom accused was connected, , disclosed that the amount of the firm’s losses was more than £4,000. The losses went back to 1933. The firm had no knowledge, of the shortage until Thompson disappeared. Detective-Sergeant Clifford, who brought Thompson back from Adelaide, said accused had admitted that he had' - misappropriated money for his own use and to pay gambling liabilities. V V , ' ~ , >
