BRITISH COALMINES BILL
IBritish Official Wireless.l (Received 10.30 a.m.) RUGBY, May 29. An announcement arising out of; the decision of the* Government not to go to divisiop on the second reading of the Coal Mines Bill was made by the Prime Minister, Mr Baldwin, in the House of Commons. The decision was due to opposition, which had developed on both sides of the House to amendments which the Government indicates it would introduce in the committee stage. Mr Baldwin said the Government held by the principles of the Bill, but had decided that it must be postponed until the autumn, as sufficient time would not be available after the recess in the heavy Parliamentary timetable. The Government would make use of the interval to redraft the Bill. It would include the changes which had been announced in the debates on the second reading.
