WALTER WAKELIN’S REPORT

Walter Wakelin reports holding sales at Parua Bay, Whakapara and Kamo, during the week. Fair yardings came forward, and good sales resulted. Keen competition was shown for good quality young stock. The advertised Shorthorn steer calves, sold at Kamo on account of Mr R. B. Howie, realised £3, while a pen from Mr F. G. Long sold for £2 12/. The yarding of pigs at Kamo was not as large as usual, and a ready sale resulted, except for weaners, which were inclined to ease.

Parua Bay (Monday).—Springing heifers, £2 10/ to £3; Jersey heifers, r.w.b., to £2; cows and calves, to £2 10/; store cows, to £2 6/; boner cows, £1 to £1 10/; boner bulls, £2 10/ to £3.

Whakapara (Tuesday).—Fat cows, £3 to £4; cows and calves, £2 10/ to £3 10/; store cows, £2 10/; steer calves (small), £1 12/6; 18-month steers, £2 10/.

Kamo (Wednesday).—Fat cows, £4 to £5 10/; cows and runners, £3 17/ to £4 10/. A line of 23 forward bullocks realised £6 6/; store cows, £2 10/ to £3 10/. A line of extra choice 18-month Shorthorn steers was passed in at £4 18/. Extra choice Shorthorn steer calves, £2 12/; boner cows, £1 to £2 8/; boner bulls, £3 to £4 10/; dairy cows and heifers, £3 to £4 1/. Sheep; Fat wethers, 23/; store wethers, 19/ to 21/9; a pen of good 2-tooth ewes, £1 10/; small 2tooth ewes, £1 6/; 4 and 6-tooth ewes, £1 5/; 4 and 5-year ewes, to £1 4/6; f.m. ewes, 11/ to 18/6; good woolly lambs, 17/6; medium quality woolly lambs, to 15/6; small woolly lambs, 12/ to 14/; shorn lambs, 8/ to 12/6; Southdown rams, 2 gns to 3 gns.
