SECOND SERIES COMMENCED

The Whangarei Amateur Athletic Club had favourable running conditions on, Wednesday night for the opening run of the second series. The track was fairly good after recent rain. Results were:—

Men’s 100yds handicap.—A. R. Smith (7yds) 1, W. Hargrave (syds) 2, H. Barber (4yds) 3. Time, 10 l-ss. Won by Ift. with inches between second and third.

880Yds. Handicap,—A. R. Smith (20 yds) 1, L. Mcßeath (scr) 2, B. Wilson (scr) 3. Time, 2m 10 l-ss. Won by 2yds with Byds between second and third.

• Long Jump—A. Lacey (Ift. 9in.) 21ft, 1; A. R. Smith (2ft,), 20ft sin„ 2; B. Given (Ift, Sin), 20ft 4in., 3. The following team will be competing at the Auckland Championships on Saturday.—Senior events: L. Mcßeath, K. J. McNaughton, J. T. Squire, E. Wilson, A. B. Ross. Junior events: W. Hargrave, R. Barber, K. Rika, B. Wilson.

At a meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Council in Wellington, J. T, Squire, of the Whangarei Club, was granted reinstatement to amateur ranks.
