The Taranaki Jockey Club’s summer meeting is being held today in showery weather. There is a fair attendance, and the course is soft:—
Waitara Hurdles, of 100 sovs; one mile and a half and 100 yards.—(4-4) Ruaform, 10.11 (Jenkins), 1; (1-1) Widden, 9.10, 2; (8-8) Sir Ronald'. 9.0, 3. Ohikara was scratched. Two lengths; one length. Time —2.35 2-5. Ngamotu Juvenile, of 100 so vs; two-and-three-year-olds; five 'furlongs.— (4-4) Grateful, 8.4 (McTavish), 1; (1-1) Oratory, 9.9, 2; (3-2) Moquette, 8.2, 3. Tonnerre, Ned Cuttle and Waiongona were scratched. Won by a neck; threequarters of a length. Time—l.2 2-5.
Flying Handicap, of ISOsovs., six fur-longs.—(4-2) Refresher, 8.5 (Clifford), 1; (2-3) Courtega, 7.9, 2;' (5-4) Lady Kyra 8.6, 3. Silk Sox was scratched. Two lengths: length and a-half. Time, 1.14 4-5.
