j WATER SUPPLY. I Most of the pipes for the water I supply have now been delivered, and J a mile or two of the mains have been 11 connected up. The setting up of the ! ram has been delayed on account of the drive pipe net having arrived, but as this part is new here, work can be commenced at the supply end of the job. When the ram is set in place it will be put into use to supply water for mixing concrete at the reservoir. Though settlers had hopes of seeing the water turned on this summer, it is now not expected to be ready before May. Fortunately there has been sufficient rain (and more) to supply water for all purposes through ,the" period which is often dry. Grassing-. The soaking rains have delayed the cultivation of the areas being prepared for grass, and sowing will be later than was intended. The successful tenderers for seed and manure, lime, and carting this year are respectively: Messrs. Wright. Stephenson & Co.. Messrs. A. Yates & Co., and Mr Dave Hill. Revaluation. Revaluation is still a burning question. Up till last year. Mr A. J. Murdoch had taken an active interest in this matter, but at that time there was an Act in force suspending all revaluation. However, last session, legislation was passed removing (he ban, and settlors are now applying for an adjustment of their capital values. Recently, Mr J, G. Barclay visited the settlement and settlers explained to him the position now concerning the grass which failed, and their need of a revaluation. Mr Barclay said he was pleased to hear the settlers' point of view and would see the commission at Auckland. Providing settlers intended to stay and make their homes here, he thought the values should' be adjusted to allow them to make a decent living.
