The sixth and deciding race of the Sanders Cup contest was sailed yesterday in a fresh breeze from nor-nor’-east and was won by Avenger, Canterbury’s representative, which finished 1m 53s ahead of Lavina (Wellington), with Aileen (Auckland) seven seconds later. The finish was;— Avenger (Canterbury) 12h 36m 17§. Lavina (Wellington) 12h 38m 10s. Aileen (Auckland) 12h 38m 17s. * Irene (Southland) 12h 43m 265. Val (Otago) 12h 44m 20s. The cup was presented to Canterbury at the Tamaki Clubhouse last night.
The Canterbury crew was: Elliot, Sinclair (skipper), R. Priddy (mainsheet) and F. Forman (for’ard hand).
