ACCIDENT AT TOWAI
MAN ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL
As the result of a motor accident at Ralls’ Corner, Kawakawa, at 7 o’clock last evening, Mr Reginald Powdrill, aged 37, of Mangere, was admitted to the Kawakawa Hospital suffering from a compound fracture of the right forearm.
A woman also received a cut over an eye, but was given medical attention on the spot.
The collision involved a touring car, driven by Mr Fisher, of Mangere, and containing four passengers, and a truck owned by Mr R. O’Neill, of Towai. The car, which was heading north, and the lorry collided about 100 yards on the other side of the Towai Hotel.
The glassware of the car was badly smashed, and the body also knocked about, but the other vehicle was only slightly damaged about the body. • The two injured were in the rear seat of the car. When Mr L. Ralls, of Towai, arrived on the scene, three minutes after the accident, Mr Powdrill was unconscious, but was revived with stimulants.
Dr Frengley, of Kawakawa, was immediately summoned and ordered Mr Powdrill to the Kawakawa Hospital, where he was conveyed in Mr Ralls’ car, being admitted at 8.30; The others of the party are now in Kawakawa, but the damaged car was brought to Whangarei today.
