BIG PROBLEMS
FOR BRITISH PARLIAMENT LEVY ON MEAT PROPOSED SECRET MILITARY PLANNING. (Received 1 p.m.) LONDON, February 2. With the reassembly of Parliament on Tuesday the “News Chronicle” predicts a series of bitter fights on a record number of controversial issues for any session of the House of Commons. These include the Cabinet’s proposal to levy a duty on all meat imports for the benefit of livestock farmers, which will be discussed previously with representatives of the Domin.ions and Ai'gentina. Also, there is the matter of approval of the Anglo-Irish coal for cattle agreement which the Dominions Office at present is working out with the High Commissioner for the Irish Free State, Mr J. W. Dulanty. The Opposition will demand the fullest information regarding the recent “hush hush” defence plans which the Cabinet is examining with the Chiefs of Staff. Other matters will include the Naval Conference, sanctions and the proposed AngloEgyptian treaty.
