ABOUT THE FLOOD
What was the funniest incident? Give us your opinion. The week-end flood, devastating though it was. had its lighter side. At the “Advocate” office one willing worker was called to supper as j,he hour approached 1.30 a.m. Keen though he was on work, the idea of supper had an even greater appeal. He splashed through water ankle deep along a board corridor, hurdling a sack of coal that had been wedged into place as a water-break. The inevitable happened. Soaked sandshoes slipped on boards awash, and cold, muddy water damped the enthusiasm of the supper-seeker. There must be many similar anecdotes to tell. Write out any interesting flood story you have to relate and post it to Kupe, c/o “Advocate” Office. Water Street, Whangarei, in order to reach this office not later than Tuesday next. The best entries will be rewarded with half crown prizes.
