WET-WEATHER WORK
RELIEF WORKERS DISSATISFIED [Special to “Northern Advocate.”! PAPAKURA, This Day. Dissatisfaction regarding the allowance for work during wet weather was expressed by the relief workers at Papakura. The impression exists among the men that there is now provision in the regulations for the local employing authority to allow them to return to their homes if wet weather sets in on a working day, and the day may be counted as if it has been worked. It is claimed that during wet weather last week the men had to spend most of their time in a shed adjacent to the works. On one occasion six men left the job an hour and a half before their time was up as a protest against the position. The Papakura Unemployed Workers’ Association has communicated with the Minister of Employment, the Hon. H. T, Armstrong, on the matter.
