THE COOKERY NOOK
Here's one of my pet recipes, Northlanders. Kupe and the Tohunga thoroughly recommend these: — WALNUT BISKS. j lb Butter, 1 egg, 1£ cups flour, vanilla, 1 cup sugar, 1 ls¥ge Teaspoon cocoa. 1 teaspoon, baking powder, 1 cup chopped walnuts. Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and cocoa, dissolve in a little boiling water. Add flour, baking powder, pinch of salt, a drop' or two of vanilla, and the walnuts. Put in teaspoonful on a cold tray, and bake in a moderate oven for 20 minutes. PEANUT TOFFEE. Place in a saucepan 21bs*3ugar, one-third teaspoon cream of tarter, ij -breakfast cup water, and 11b nuts. After the sugar has dissolved do not stir. Boil until a golden brown. Pour into a flat greased tin and when nearly cold cut into strips.— (Sent in by David Nelley).
