Vice-Regal. A luncheon wds given at Government House yesterday by the Gov-ernor-General, Viscount Galway, and Viscountess Galway, and was attended by the Hon. Eliot Davis, M.L.C., and Mrs Davis, Captain S. Bauer and Mrs Bauer, Mr Casement Aickin, Mr W. J. Holdsworth, Mr and Mrs H. E. Vaile, Lady Myers and Lady Sysonby.
A visitor to Whangarei today was Mr A. W. Packard, proprietor of the “Eltham Argus,” who has been on a tour of the North. He stayed with his brother at Okaihau, and his sister, Mrs Hammond, in Kaihu Valley. Mr Packard is very interested in the North.
Mr A. H. M. Farrell, who for several years has acted as officer-in-charge of the Lands Department, Paeroa, left Paeroa on Monday to take up another Government position at Whangarei. Prior to his departure Mr Farrell was tendered farewells by the Paeroa High School Committee, the members of the Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, and the civil servants stationed in Paeroa, and at each of these functions he was the recipient of farewell gifts.
