TITR Kenneth MacDonald, of PalmA erston North, a visitor to Mount Maunganpi, had a leg broken when assisting to get a car on to the road. Timber was being used and a piece slipped and struck Mr MacDonald on the left leg. He was taken by ambulance to the Tauranga Hospital.
J)AN Shanahan, the well-known Auckland swimmer and former New Zealand intermediate 100yds breaststroke champion, is returning to Dunedin from Christchurch. His brother Michael is to represent South Canterbury at Hamilton in the New Zealand junior boys’ 75yds' breaststroke and junior diving championships. The latter has now represented three provinces in this division. He won the junior breaststroke event when he represented Auckland, and last season represented Otago at Timaru. M R EDWARD. Cannock, a farm hand, aged about 20, thought to have come from Te Puke, was found dead at the cowshed of his employer, Mr J. Bourne,’ of Wilkins Road, Netherton, at daylight this morning. A shot-gun was beside the body, and there was a wound in Mr Cammock’s head.

on levelling work at the Blenheim aerodrome this morning cycled straight across the middle of the landing field, instead of keeping to the boundary. A trainee pilot, Mr H. Hewetson, of Rai Valley, flying solo in a Marlborough Club machine, was coming in to land at the time. He observed one of the men, but did not see the other, Mr James O’Leary, and struck him with the lower right wing. The main spar of the wing was. broken, and the machine turned over, but the damage is not serious. Mr O’Leary was considerably knocked knocked about and is in hospital. His condition is not serious. her own cycling time from Auckland to Wellington by Miss V. Baird, who arrived at Wellington at 8.45 a.m., taking 50hrs 33mins, against her 79hrs 40mins in March, 1932. Although she had only four hours’ sleep, she looked remarkably fresh and fit. She had hoped to do the trip in 50 hours, but made a detour over the heavily metalled Sanson-Bulls road, and lost about two hours which she had in hand. She said this would be her last attempt to break -the record for the trip.
