Motor cars are becoining increasingly, popular in New Zealand, and the average person- is becoming car-mind-ed. Recently 540 cars, valued at over £BO,OOO, arrived from England in a single shipment. In Auckland the number of motor vehicles registered in the five months ended November 30 was 22,952, an advance of 2386 on the. figure for the corresponding period last year. In the six months ended November 30, there were 13,641 drivers’ licenses taken out in the Auckland metropolitan area. This total shows an increase of 1151 on the corresponding half-year in 1934. Now that the Christmas season is here sales of cars will be bigger than ever. Numbers of people are buying old cars from £lO to £ls, and using them to tour the country.
