AMERICANS TO TAKE PART (Received 11 a.m.) CHICAGO, October 24. “The sportsmen of America will not tolerate the use of athletics as a means of transporting old world hatreds to this country,” said Mr. Avery Brundage, president of the American Olympic Association. He stated positively that teams from America would compete in the next Olympic Games at Berlin, and said his views represented the feelings of the leaders of 70 organisations affiliated with amateur athletics in America. GERMANY’S PREPARATIONS. OLYMPIC VILLAGE INSPECTED. (Received noon.) LONDON, October 25. Dr. Evan Hunter, British Olympiad representative, inspected Germany’s recently constructed' Olympic village, built for the 1936 Games. It is situated in the Reichswehr building at Doebritz, the famous military camp, nine miles from Berlin. It consists of 150 one-storeyed 10 or 12rcomed houses, equipped with shower baths and sun-bathing verandahs, and it incorporates a restaurant with 40 kitchens, an assembly hall for the nations, shops and other facilities. Dr. Hunter applied for accommodation for ! the British team near the restaurant, j and also asked for accommodation for the Dominion athletes alongside the ; British, as at Los Angeles in 1932.
