The statement is balanced at £21,813,481, or £140,317 more than at the close of the previous week. The note issue shows an increase of £71,017. Government deposits have decreased by £175,921, while those of the trading banks are higher by £177,504. The two other liability items show increases of £57,098 and £10,619 respectively. On the assets side, sterling exchange has increased by £137,850, this move following two substantial decreases. Coin is less by £3640, while the investment item is £7610 higher.
