ELECTION CAMPAIGNS
The National Government candidate for Dunedin South, Mr T. K. S. Sidey, a son of the late Sir Thomas Sidey, who represented the electorate for over 20 years, opened his campaign in South Dunedin tonight, when he addressed a large audience, Mr Sidey defended the policy of the Government during- the years of depression and said that as a result Of the measures introduced, the country was slowly but surely on the road to prosperity. The Leader of the Democrat Party, Mr T. C. A. Hislop, arvived in Dunedin from South last evening and addressed a fairly large audience. The address was on the lines of speeches made in other parts of the country. A large number showed annoyance when Mr Hislop refused to answer questions at the close of the address and left the hall before a vote of thanks was put to the meeting.
