AUCKLAND TROTS TOMORROW’S EVENTS [Special to “Northern Advocate,”} AUCKLAND, This Day. The day’s programme will open with the Waitemata Handicap, for unhobbled trotters, at the Auckland Trotting Club’s spring meeting at Alexandra Park tomorrow. Elissa is showing improved form in her work at Epsom, but is not too reliable at the start. However* if she goes away smartly she should be in the firing line. Nelson’s Glory has undoubted speed, but he is a bad breaker. Stalky and Rose Marble have not raced for some time, but *the latter was responsible for two fair performances at the Waikato meeting a couple of seasons ago. Nelspear well bred, btit will be having her first race, and may need experience. Pearl Parrish has not raced for two seasons, but the Takanini trainer, F. J. Smith, can usually be relied upon to produce his charges fit and well. Young Rodney is one of the most solid trotters in the race and will go on staying when the others are feeling the pinch. Autumn Lu does not appeal. A favoured trio may be:— Pearl Parrish, Young Rodney, Nelson’s Glory. The Improvers’ Handicap.—Eleven novice and improving pacers are down to contest the Improvers’ Handicap. Aerial Belle has previously shown plenty of speed over sprint distances, while Spessiva is working usefully at Epsom. Frank’s Best was credited with a solid performance when he finished fourth on the second day of the recent Auckland meeting, and a repetition of that form would see him prominent in the run home. Great Jewel has not yet started, but displayed a nice turn of speed when, he finished second in a two-year-old parade held at Epsom last season. Baron Alfonso will be coupled with Nellota, and the bracket is sure to carry plenty of support. At the Waikato meeting Nellota failed to race up to expectations, but her form was too bad to be true, and she may do better tomorrow. Great Chum has hot been seen out since running second at the fourth of June meeting, but is wearing a bright appearance and may go well. After threatening to win a race for a long time, Proletarian at last got on the winning list, ’ when he annexed tha Improvers’ Handicap on the second day of the Waikato meeting. He has taken no harm from the race, and although he has to give scratch horses 36 yards tomorrow, he will command attention. The best backed may be:— Frank’s Best. Nellota—Baron Alfonso bracket. Proletarian.

Jellicoe Handicap .--Next comes the principal attraction of the day, the Jellicoe Handicap, and, with an acceptance list of 11 well performed pacers, an excellent contest should eventuate. Wee Machine is working better than he has done for some time and he will strip a very fit horse. In the past he has been inclined to break in his races, but is pacing in his best style at present. War Paint is a pacer that is likely to stay on well this season, judging by the determined way in which she hgs run her previous races right out. She is likely to be one of the favourites. Logan’s Pride went fair races at Claudelands, but Lady Coronado failed to pace evenly either day. Smooger showed rare consistency at the Auckland meeting last month, earning a first, two seconds, and a third in four starts. He is a most reliable pacer, and will be dangerous. Nimbus has got through a solid preparation, and won impressively at Epsom last month. Willy Derby was having his first race for some time when he annexed the Eureka at Claudelands on Monday, and it is reasonable to expect him to be improved as a result of the race. The favourite division may comprise;— War Paint, Bingen Chief. Wee Machine. A rare puzzle is set for backers in the Parnell Handicap, but good support may come for:— Bonny Azure, Rayon d’Or —Red Frontier bracket. Ironside. The smallest field of the day (G) will contest the Mountain Handicap, of two miles, for unhoppled trotters. Three | that appeal are: — Worthy Nor, Ando Patch, Captain Bolt.

The October Handicap has drawn a field of nine, and off the front Kewpie’s Bond should have fine prospects. Most money may come for: — , Kewpie’s Bond, Gold Dredge, Blandford. Preference may be shown in the next race, the Stewards’ handicap, for: — Kenworthy, Replica, Bismuth. The day’s sport will conclude with the Electric Handicap, in which the favourites may be; — Ring True, Worthy Light, Supertax.
