BROADWOOD
On Friday evening, a dance was organised by Mr F. Downey, postmaster, Broadwood, and Mr M. Winter, headmaster of the Broadwood School. The dance was held in the A. and P. Hall. Proceeds were in aid of the Health Stamp campaign. A happy crowd turned up to support the worthy movement. Mu£ic was supplied by the Broadwood Kit Kat Orchestra. Supper was served by the ladies. The, Broadwood links were deserted this week-end. The fine weather tempted the beach lovers and the tennis players. The Broadwood links will have an official closing in a fortnight’s time. Every day, after school, young enthusiasts can be seen practising tennis on the school courts.. The future of the Broadwood Tennis Club is assured if the youth of the district become familiar with the game before leaving school. General. Mrs F. Kjoiler has entered the Rawene Hospital to undergo an operation for appendicitis. Garden lovers at Broadwood are busy in the gardens coaxing along choice blooms ready for the flower show next month. Wet conditions have made it difficult to get good results in the garden this year. The Broadwood school children are progressing very well with their dancing lessons, both in folk dancing and ballroom dancing. The fancy dress ball will be well worth seeing.
