Mrs 'R. B. Russell and her two daughters are staying with Mrs J. Brindle, at Northcote, Auckland. Mrs P. Spender was hurriedly called to Auckland to sec her son, Trevor Ingram, of H.M.S. Diomede. It will be remembered that the Diomede sailed at short notice for an undisclosed destination last Sunday afternoon. Mrs Goodall and Miss Haughey recently held a surprise evening for. Miss Yeoman, who has left the town' on a month’s leave of absence. Methodist Church Anniversary.

The fifty-ninth anniversary service of the Rawene Methodist Church was celebrated on Sunday last. Appropriate services, conducted by the Rev. Mr Duder, of Kawakawa, were held in the morning and in the evening. An anniversary social followed on Monday evening, when a good programme of musical items was enjoyed by a fair-sized audience. Songs were contributed by Mrs Mallandine and Misses Bawden and Lane, and play readings by Mrs Mallandine and Mir Grice. Mrs Mallandine and- Mr Grice also gave a much-appreciated humorous duologue. Supper brought the evening to a. close. A- birthday cake, with 59 candles, presented by the Ladies’ Guild, was very much admired, and the cutting of it at supper time added much to the gaiety of the evening. Hokianga Dairy Company. (

On October 20, the Hokianga Dairy Company distributed the sum of £6248 2/11 amongst its suppliers, representing a payjout of lOd for first grade, and 10£d ‘for superfine for butterfat supplied during the month of . September.

A collision between a car driven by B. L. Durham, of Whangarei, and a motor cycle ridden by J. Friday, of Punakitere, occurred on Sunday last. A pillion passenger, Ruwha Matiu, on the motor cycle, sustained a broken leg, resulting in him being taken to the Rawene Hospital, where he is progressing satisfactorily. The occupants of the car were unhurt, and the rider of the cycle received only minor injuries, while little damage was done to the machines. Town Board Meeting. At a meeting of the Rawene Town ■'feoard, held on Monday evening, it was decided, with regard to the proposed aerodrome site, that a special meeting be held, at an early date to discuss commencing the reclamation of the foreshore as soon as possible. The Town Clerk reported that the installation of four extra lights in Parnell Street was in hand. The installation of a light in Clendon’s Esplanade, near the council’s repair shop, is also under way.
