THE NEW CRUISING SEASON
COMMENCES NEXT MONTH. OCEAN RACES PLANNED. The Whangarei Cruising Club will officially open the new season on the third Saturday in November. With the introduction of the Saturday halfholiday, it is anticipated that the club will make considerable progress, as more members will be able to take part in afternoon races on Saturdays. It is intended to hold a combined yacht and launch race for opening daj’ 1 . The launch race will bo on the self handicap system.
During the season three ocean races will be held, one of which will be a long one, round Sail Rock and the Hen and Chickens, a distance of between 60 and 80 miles. This race will be for the cup presented by Mr P. H. Easley, On January 29, the usual club regatta will be held at One Tree Point. Mr A. McKenzie is Commodore of the club this season.
