MARRIED AN HOUR
AND THEN DIVORCED A record for speedy marriage and divorce is believed to haye been made by a young Moslem couple of Sarajevo. An hour after they had been joined in matrimony by the local sheriat, oi Moslem registrar, he was surprised +o receive a return visit from them with the joint demand that their marriage should be dissolved by mutual consent.
The bridegroom stated that no sooner were they married and out of the court than the bride demanded that he should start to fulfil some of the promises of lavish purchases for her which he had made during an ardent wooing. / The quarrel culminated in front of a dressmaker’s shop, where the couple decided that their hour-old marriage had been a mistake. They returned to the sheriat, who, according to Moslem law, granted them a divorce without delay.
