■pOYCOTT APPROVED.—The Com- , mittee of Eighteen has approved Mr Eden’s proposal to boycott Ital-> ian exporters. The Co-ordinating Committee will meet on October 31, instead of October 29, and, until then, the Committee of Eighteen will remain in session.
T EAGUE’S NEGLIGENCE. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Geneva correspondent says: “Each day that passes shows more clearly that the League was guilty of grave negligence in failing, throughout the past weeks, to consider how economic sanctions could be practically applied to Italy before the end of the month; if then. Moreover many States will be outside the practical sanctioning ring. Several already are hastening to assure Italy that their participation will, be nominal.” ,
TTALY’S MILITARY STRENGTH 1 Italy now has 1,200,000 men under arms, of whom 200,000 are in her colonies in Abyssinia. The 1915 class will be called to the colours shortly, but the 1911, 1913 and 1914 classes will be retained indefinitely. The men in the 1911-14 classes -hitherto have been exempted from full-term service, but have been recalled to the colours. All divisions now are on a waxfooting.
(GERMAN COAL.—Large barge loads of German coal sent down the Rhine are arriving daily at Rotterdam for shipment to Italy.
